the millimeter wave(mmw) body scanner with temperature measurement integrated system has been put in use at hefei south railway station this year for the first time.
this system named millisnap was independently developed by brainware terahertz information technology co.,ltd., the subsidiary of cetc. the system collects the imaging data of the body and concealed objects under clothing by adopting the state-of-the-art millimeter-wave technology. the passenger stands motionless in the scanner for the scan which takes only 2 seconds to complete. this millisnap adopted three-dimensional holographic imaging algorithm and combined with deep learning and intelligent image recognition algorithm, achieving the contactless and rapid inspection. it is capable of detecting both metallic and non-metallic objects hidden on the body, also has an auto detect mode to highlight the suspicious objects accurately. the minimum size of the detected objects is up to 5 mm. potential areas of concern are mapped onto a generic mannequin, which is identical for everyone, and presented to the operator, the privacy is well protected.
integrated with infrared camera, this system could complete temperature measurement and security inspection simultaneously. the whole process requires no physical contact, it effectively reduces the possibility of cross-infection during the epidemic of covid-19. it is worth mentioning that the device does not produce any ionizing radiation, and is as safe to use as a cell phone. for comparison, the energy radiated by the system is 1000 times less than in a cell phone transmission. the system has passed the safety certification by national authority and can rest assured to use.
the all-in-one system was reported by the chinese state media xinhua headlines. the function of contact-free temperature screening and security checks make contribute in the spring festival travel amid epidemic control.
